A curious Quora member asked this question yesterday:

How do you (legally) watch the entire Star Wars series without breaking the bank?

Honestly, if you live in the U.S. or Canada, have a steady income, and are diligent about paying your bills, acquiring and watching the current 10 movies that exist at this moment (February 2019), it's not as hard as you might think.

If you want to limit yourself to the live-action Skywalker Saga films, you'll need to get the following:

  • The Complete Star Wars Saga nine-disc Blu-ray set, preferably the 2015 reissue because it's easier to acquire on Amazon or other sellers (Best Buy, Target, etc.). Right now Amazon is asking $74.79 for the box set.
  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first installment of the Sequel Trilogy that was released in theaters in December 2015. The 2016 Buena Vista Home Entertainment Blu-ray set goes for $23.87 at Amazon.
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first stand-alone film and a prequel to the original 1977 film. Released a year after The Force Awakens, it's available at Amazon for $22.99,
  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi: the second installment of the Sequel Trilogy and eighth Episode of the Skywalker Saga, this movie hit theaters in December 2017 and debuted on home media in March of 2018. Amazon sells it for $23.49, although some sellers have lower prices.
  • Solo: A Star Wars Story, the second stand-alone film that shows our favorite scoundrel's origin story. Released on May 25, 2018 in theaters and on September 24 on Blu-ray, it's the newest of the 10 existing movies. You can find it for $22.99 at Amazon, although (again) it might be cheaper at other places.
Assuming you have looked into prices, made a budget, and set aside the money, you can buy 10 Star Wars feature films for $168.13 (plus sales tax) and free shipping if you have Amazon Prime.

Of course, if you want to be a completist, you can add the two animated series that are now available (Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels), the cost goes up a bit.
