'Star Wars' Collectibles & Toys Review: Hasbro Star Wars: The Black Series Rey & D-O

(LFL) On October 4, 2019. 11 weeks before the premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Hasbro released a "wave" of eight Star Wars: The Black Series action figures for the company's "Triple Force Friday" assortment of new  Star Wars collectibles and toys. This wave consisted of: Supreme Leader Kylo Ren Cal Kestis Rey & D-O Sith Trooper The Mandalorian Offworld Jawa Second Sister Inquisitor First Order Stormtrooper Although several of the Star Wars action figures in the October 4 wave are based on characters from video games (Cal Kestis is featured in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order ) and Lucasfilm TV shows ( The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Rebels ), four figures represent the then-unreleased final film of the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars - Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

(LFL) On December 20, 2019, Walt Disney Motion Pictures Studio released Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (aka Star Wars - Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker ), the ninth and final film of the Skywalker, in North American theaters. Co-written by Chris Terrio and J.J. Abrams and directed by the latter, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker grossed over $1.074 billion worldwide and was nominated for three Academy Awards (Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, and Best Visual Effects). But even before the film premiered, Hasbro had already released a wave of action figures, vehicles, and other toys and collectibles based on The Rise of Skywalker. Javitz Convention Center, Hasbro unveiled a variety of new products at its showroom. (LFL) In the Spring of 2018, even weeks before its scheduled April 13 rollout, many retailers began selling Death Star Trooper, the 60th figure in Hasbro's Star Wars: The Black Series collection of 6-inch scale action figures. This figure, which is actually a re-use of the body from 2017's #45 Kylo Ren figure, features a new helmet based on the one reforged by the former Ben Solo after the events of Star Wars - Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, as well as a new cape and two changeable hoods. (LFL) In the fall of 2019, Hasbro's Star Wars: The Black Series collection released its Emperor Palpatine and Throne action figure set as an Amazon exclusive. The ultimate villain in the nine-part Star Wars  Skywalker Saga, Emperor Sheev Palpatine is depicted as he appeared at the conclusion of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in the throne room of the Empire's second (and more powerful) Death Star battle station. Ensconced in Hasbro's black-red-and-silver Black Series, the 6-in. scale Emperor Palpatine and Throne set comes with several accessories, including a replica of the Emperor's sinister-looking throne, Palpatine's gnarled black cane,  an extra set of hands that "unleash" bolts of deadly Force
