Educating Conservatives, Civil Discourse 101: What do liberals want from conservatives?

You see these angry white Southerners who were overwhelmingly Democratic Party members in 1957? They later became Republicans, and their children more than likely grew up to be Trump voters.

What do liberals want from conservatives?

I can’t speak for all liberals. That would be pretentious and silly on my part. I can, however, speak for myself.

So, this is my wish list regarding what I’d like from people who self-identify as “conservatives.”
  1. Cease your blind support of Donald J. Trump and toss him into the dustbin of history
  2. Stop treating Americans who are not conservatives as if we were (a) enemies of the United States and (b) aliens who do not deserve the demonym “American”
  3. Stop pretending that the Republican Party did not have a “Southern Strategy” in the Sixties to woo disenchanted Southern Democrats who were pissed off at the Democratic Party’s liberal wing’s embrace of the Civil Rights movement
  4. Stop repeating the lie that the Ku Klux Klan is not presently dominated by whites who now identify as Republicans. Yes, it is true that Southern Democrats founded the KKK in the old Confederacy after the Civil War, but many of their descendants who still believe that whites are superior to non-whites now vote Republican
  5. Stop labeling liberals as Socialists, Communists, Marxists, or anything that far left. Yes, there are some delusional idiots out there who still think Marxism can be made to work, but most of us who vote for Democratic Party candidates do not believe in Marxism
  6. Stop the childish name-calling. We are not “libtards,” “DemonRats,” “DemoCraps,” or “DemoKKKrats.” We're Democrats and your fellow Americans.
  7. Stop claiming that all Democratic Party members want to “take away people’s guns.” Some want stricter laws and tighter loopholes to reduce the potential of mass shootings and whatnot, but most of us realize that living in a nation where over 300 million firearms exist, repealing the Second Amendment and limiting gun ownership to police and the military is simply not an option
  8. Own up to your hateful behavior. Disavow people like “MAGA life coach” Brenden Dilley, who has said in his podcasts and interviews that all liberals should die. I mean, does the conservative movement want to be remembered as one that accepts this kind of hate-filled thinking? “I want to win and I won’t consider it total victory without destroying our enemies,” Dilley said. “I don’t want to hold your hand. I want to stomp you into the fucking ground. I want Donald Trump to bury you treasonous pricks under the prison. I don’t want to just win. Winning is a formality at this point. Destroying you motherfuckers is way more important.”
  9. Stop wrapping yourself in the U.S. flag and claiming that only conservatives are “true patriots”
  10. Stop using religion and religious beliefs as wedge issues or to force your beliefs on others
  11. Stop pretending to be supportive of individual rights while attempting to force everyone to conform to your vision of what America should be
  12. Stop pretending to believe in the rule of law and the U.S. Constitution while supporting a President who thinks the laws don’t apply to him and ignores the Constitution
  13. Stop pretending that we live in a post-racial society
  14. Stop pretending that African-Americans and other minorities are not discriminated against in the 21st Century
  15. Stop claiming that conservatives really care about the budget deficit; Republicans wring their hands about the deficit and the national debt when Democrats control Congress or there is a Democratic President in the White House. But when your side has the Presidency, as it presently does, you guys are silent when the deficit/debt grows due to tax cuts and increases in defense spending
  16. Stop trying to destroy public education by starving school systems of funding or siphoning public funds to allow children to attend private (and usually religious) schools by using “vouchers”
  17. Stop acting like victims in a culture war that your side started
