Well, folks, the train wreck that is the Trump presidency keeps getting loopier with each passing day.  By now you've probably gotten word that the 45th President of the U.S. is now claiming that former President Barack Obama had his office wiretapped during the 2016 election. Yep, that's right. Mr. "Most Unpopular President" says that his predecessor took his cues from disgraced ex-President Richard Nixon and bugged the phones in Mr. Trump's suite at the Trump Tower in Manhattan to, as conservative radio host Mark Levin claims, "surveille members of his campaign."  In a Twitter tweet posted on Saturday, the President said, "How low has President Obama gone to tapp (sic) my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!" During the long and divisive 2016 Presidential campaign, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton was given the nasty nickname "Crooked Hillary" by then-candidate Donald Trump and his followers. The former First Lady, ex-Senator from New York, and President Barack Obama's first Secretary of State was hit by broadsides from all sides from the moment that she announced her candidacy in April of 2015 all the way to Election Day last November. The criticism covered a wide range of issues, including the use of a private email server during her stint at the State Department, her handling (or mishandling) of a terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, and even wacko stories about her knowledge that the Democratic Party was running a child-sex ring out of several restaurants in the U.S. One story in particular that was disseminated by the alt-right during the election was an accusation that Clinton benefited from a uranium deal with Russia while she was Secretary of State. After the announcement that retired Army General Michael Flynn resigned on Monday night from his post as President Trump’s National Security Adviser as a result of the Administration’s first major scandal, I wrote a blog post titled  “Trump supporters: Why do you support this reckless, feckless Administration?” Like most blog posts with a political theme, the title is more of a rhetorical question than an actual query. My blog, “A Certain Point of View” doesn’t have a large following (only 13 people have signed on as “followers”), and readers rarely leave any feedback in the “Comments” section.  I didn’t really expect to get any honest, intelligent, or coherent answers that go beyond the usual “He’s only been President for less than a month. Give him a chance!” or “He is a successful businessman with a proven track record of success. He will get things done.” And, to be honest, so far I have not even gotten any of those comments, either.
