The Revised Version of 'The Jim Garraty Chronicles' Has Been Delivered!

Hi, everyone.

I just grabbed my Amazon package from the mailbox — the newly revised edition of The Jim Garraty Chronicles: A Life in Four Movements. I haven’t had time to pore over it yet (the Postal Service also delivered my MasterCard bill, which immediately reminded me of August 12), but I did check the trouble spots that bothered me in the first printing.

This copy was printed yesterday in Orlando, so it’s clearly based on the updated file I uploaded to KDP last week. The duplicated paragraph in Reunion: Coda is gone, the back‑matter headers are still stubbornly capitalized thanks to Kindle Create, but the series name is finally correct: The Jim Garraty Chronicles. With four stories in the canon now, it fits.

I’ve put the revised edition on my bookshelf, and I’m confident the major issues have been fixed. After three years living inside Jim Garraty’s world, I’m giving myself permission to read other authors for a while. There’s another Garraty story on my list, but it’ll come when it’s ready.

In  Star Wars  (aka  Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope ) there were no clues that Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, was the father of either Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia Organa. All of the available evidence (story treatments, film outlines, internal memos, and various drafts of the screenplay) points to Vader being a separate and distinct individual from “Luke’s father.” Now, it’s possible, however unlikely, that  in his mind  George Lucas decided that Vader and Luke’s father were one and the same during principal photography, thus explaining why Uncle Owen is so reluctant to talk about the subject of his supposedly dead father and his connection to the mysterious “Obi-Wan Kenobi” in the dinner table scene in Act One of  Star Wars....

Book Review: Marvel Comics' reissue of 'Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith'

Cover art by Mike Mayhew On November 29, 2016, Marvel Comics published Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, a hardcover volume that collects all four issues of the comics adaptation of the eponymous space-fantasy film by writer-director George Lucas. These comics (and a similar trade paperback compilation) were originally published by Dark Horse Comics in 2005; Marvel, which regained the license to publish Star Wars content in 2014, has also reissued Dark Horse's other Prequel Era adaptations, The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, as part of a collection that encompasses the entire Star Wars movie saga. Writer Christopher Cerasi (using the pen name "Miles Lane" in the original Dark Horse edition) and artist Doug Wheatley follow the story in Lucas's screenplay closely, even using the same title crawl text from the finished film.
