Star Wars: A Musical Journey (DVD Review)

(LFL) One of the nicest things about Sony Classical's soundtrack album from  Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith  is the bonus DVD that comes with the CD. Titled  Star Wars: A Musical Journey , this is a magnificent collection of 16 music videos that span the entire six-Episode saga. The Prequels' four major themes ( Duel of the Fates, Anakin's Theme, Across the Stars [Love Theme from Attack of the Clones),  and  Battle of the Heroes ) underscore beautifully edited montages from the 1999-2005 trilogy, while action/setting cues and major themes from the Classic Trilogy feature scenes from all six  Star Wars  films to follow the Skywalker family's pivotal role in the rise and fall of the Galactic Empire.  Photo: Courtesy of Marc Van Heuckelom. Of all the film series that feature classical-styled scores, George Lucas's  Star Wars  saga (which he personally calls  The Tragedy of Darth Vader ) is certain

The Prequels don't suck; they're just not as great as the Classic Star Wars Trilogy (review)

On November 4, 2008, roughly seven years after Lucasfilm Limited and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment released the two-disc DVD set of  Star Wars – Episode I: The Phantom Menace  and slightly four years after the unveiling of the somewhat controversial  Star Wars Trilogy  box set, the two companies went ahead and issued the first box set of  Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy  in tandem with a redesigned  Star Wars Trilogy  box set comprised of the 2006 Limited Edition DVDs which contain – due to high demand from fans – both the enhanced Special Edition and original theatrical release versions of  A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back  and  Return of the Jedi . For some reason, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment waited a bit over three years to produce a box set of the Prequels –  Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of the Clones  and  Episode III: Revenge of the Sith  – which had previously been released in separate 2-DVD sets. (C) 2005 Ballantine/Del Rey Books In 1979, almost a year before the release of Star Wars - Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, I purchased my first copy of Carol Titleman's The Art of Star Wars. The trade paperback edition of a hard-to-find Limited Edition hardcover published by Ballantine Books, Titleman's book not only had the stuff you might expect from a book titled The Art of Star Wars - sketches, production paintings, storyboards, costume and set designs, and pictures of the various models used in the movie - but it also contained the complete fourth revised draft of George Lucas' screenplay for the movie. Titleman's book - which was later reissued in 1997 as The Art of Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope - was only the first in a series of Art of Star Wars tomes; each of the live-action Episodes plus the new Lucasfilm Animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars has had an "Art of" volume dedicated to it.
