(C) 2015 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment As the 2015 holiday season – and the premiere of Disney/Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” – drew near, 20th Century Fox (yet again) re-released the six original “Star Wars” films that bear the studio’s iconic logo on home video. On November 10, Fox reissued its 2011 Blu-rays of “The Phantom Menace,” “Attack of the Clones,” “Revenge of the Sith,” “A New Hope,” “The Empire Strikes Back,” and “Return of the Jedi” in limited edition steelbook packaging. Like most of the major Hollywood studios, including Paramount, Universal, and Warner Bros. Fox depends on revenue from home video sales and legal digital downloads. And because the “Star Wars” franchise (including the Prequel Trilogy) is one of the studio’s crown jewels, Fox re-issues the films as often as it thinks that consumers will willingly tolerate. Finally, since a new “Star Wars” film series begins on December 18, Fox is eager to jump on the marketing bandwagon yet agai

Starwars.com  Less than five weeks before the release of Disney/Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment joined the pre-premiere frenzy with its third reissue of the Classic and Prequel “Star Wars” Trilogies on Blu-ray. On Tuesday, November 10, 2015, the studio that originally released George Lucas’s space-fantasy saga set “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” rolled out the six existing “Star Wars” films in all-new Limited Edition Steelbook packaging. As many fans know, “Star Wars” is one of the most frequently re-released movie series in the history of home video, and chances are that Fox – which owns the distribution rights to the five films financed by Lucasfilm Ltd until 2020 and owns “Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope” outright – will milk its cash bantha in the future. Most studios, after all, stay profitable through home video sales and digital downloads, so it’s not surprising that Fox is offering this Limited Edit

(c) 2015 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment  On November 10, 2015, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment re-released George Lucas’s two “Star Wars” movie trilogies in all-new limited edition steelbook packaging. Coming less than five weeks before the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” this is Fox’s third re-issue of the popular space-fantasy saga since 2011. (And it probably won’t be the last; the studio holds the distribution rights to five of the seven existing “Star Wars” films until 2020, and it owns “Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope” outright.)  “Star Wars” fans, especially those who clamor for the release of the original 1977-1983 Classic Trilogy in its pre-Special Edition form, will find that Fox’s focus is not on content but rather the packaging. As was the case with the studio’s October re-issue of its’ 9-disc “Star Wars: The Complete Saga” box set, the Blu-ray disc (BD) doesn’t have any new tweaks or cool extras; what’s different is the limited edition steel

(c) 2015 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope (Limited Edition Steelbook)   On November 10, 2015, five weeks before the premiere of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” 20th Century Fox re-released Blu-rays of the six existing “Star Wars” saga films in “limited edition” steelbook packaging. This is the second time that Fox, which owns the distribution rights to the five Episodes produced by George Lucas’s Lucasfilm Limited until 2020 and owns “Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope” outright, reissues the Blu-ray versions of the popular space-fantasy series since 2011. Of course, this is not a new development in the long history of the “Star Wars” franchise. When videotape was the dominant home media format in the 1980s and 1990s, Fox reissued the unaltered editions of “Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope” and its sequels “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi” at least three times between 1982 and 1995. After Lucasfilm modified the C

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment On October 13, 2015, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment re-issued “Star Wars: The Complete Saga,” a nine-disc box set that collects the six films of George Lucas’s epic space-fantasy series set “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” on Blu-ray discs (BDs). This set, which also includes three BDs of bonus materials culled from Lucasfilm’s archive, has the same content as Fox’s 2011 “Complete Saga” collection. The only major differences are the packaging and, in some sets, the artwork on the BD labels. Considering that Fox has re-issued “Star Wars”-themed box sets countless times since the days when videotape was the dominant home video format, it’s obvious that the studio hopes to capitalize on renewed interest in the nearly 40-year-old franchise as a result of Disney/Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” “Star Wars: The Complete Saga” was dropped a month before Fox introduced the Limited Edition Steelbook BDs for each of the

(C) 2016 Buena Vista Home Entertainment/Lucasfilm Ltd. Star Star Star Star Star On April 5, Buena Vista Home Entertainment released the much-anticipated Blu-ray/DVD set of director J.J. Abrams’ blockbuster hit “ Star Wars:The Force Awakens. ” The first installment of the long awaited Sequel Trilogy and seventh live-action film in the “ Star Wars ” saga, “The Force Awakens” was last year’s biggest box office hit. Now, the Force seems to be with the Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm, as “The Force Awakens” is the best-selling Blu-ray/DVD combo set on  Amazon.com  and other sellers. “Visionary director J.J. Abrams brings to life the motion picture event of a generation. As Kylo Ren and the sinister First Order rise from the ashes of the Empire, Luke Skywalker is missing when the galaxy needs him most.
